What follows is an approximate transcription of the interview.

Press TV: I’d like to first of all ask your opinion of this elevation of the Israeli status vis-à-vis US strategic partnership with it.

It is the timing that I am finding very interesting. It is coming where it has been worldwide condemnation of Israeli policies when it comes to Gaza, when it comes to Palestinians and occupation as a whole?

Hart: Well you are quite right about that aspect for the time being but there is another aspect. The mid-term elections are almost upon us. They are in November 22nd and that is the time when every single member of Congress dance to the tune of the Zionist lobby and its allies must do and say everything demanded of them.

It is a totally ridiculous situation we are in. It is not in America’s own best interest - forget the Palestinians – it is not in America’s own best interest to go on supporting the Zionist monster ... [entity] right or wrong.

So why really is the Zionist lobby driving this now, for the reasons you said, for the reasons I said but there is something else at stake here. The Zionist lobby knows that Obama and probably many in his administration bow to Netanyahu and all he represents and I think what they may be fearing is that after the mid-term elections Obama may feel himself free and not veto in attempt for example to take Israel to the International Criminal Court.

I think they are also concerned that after the mid-term elections Obama might seek to pull out the agreement and reconciliation with Iran. So it is yet another way of making sure they can tie the hands of the president of America.

Press TV: So Mr. Hart, you would say that the passing of this bill by the United States Senate is basically a judgment on the US political system? 

Hart: Well yes but no judgment is needed. It is one of the most corrupt systems in the world. They call it democracy but what passes for democracy there is per se all to the highest lobby bidder which the Zionist lobby is one of the highest bidders.  

So even the words we use have become meaningless. Democracy in America it is a joke.
