I truly understand where you are coming from. This is not a calvinism issue, but to me it is a bible one. Remember I was raised my entire life in the Pentecostal church and was groomed to be a pastor. I have experienced all these things you speak of. I was ready to start one of the prominent Pentecostal colleges back in the late 80s. Instead God took me on a ride to see what the apostolic fathers taught. I was surprised to see it was not Pentecostalism. It shook my faith. As I started researching the History of the church as to what they actually taught and practiced from John forward. I landed where I am now. There is no question I am still a work in progress. yet at the same time I began to uncover the emotional manipulation I had encountered. I also began to think of all the people healed of cancer that died of cancer a few years later. The people leaving their wheelchairs behind, only to require them again. I could go on and on with my personal experiences but they really do not matter. What matters to me is Christ and the word that he gave to us.

Once the man behind the curtain was revealed. I realized I had been duped into putting my focus on the men and works, instead of Christ. Life has never been the same since.
