I have no experience with the New Apostolic Reformation and I also don't have a biased opinion against the possibility that apostles could exist today. Personally, I believe any scriptures that people quote that say prove for a fact that the Bible contains the full word of God and that God cannot call additional prophets or apostles today is quite ridiculous. The article that Vektek quoted that supposedly proves scripturally that there could only be apostles at the time of Jesus proves nothing, except the bias of the original author. In order to interpret any of those scriptures as meaning there can be no apostles today, one has to already start with the bias of believing there can be no apostles today. Yes, the scriptures do state that any apostle called must actually see Christ and be ordained by him, but Christ could certainly choose to do this today if he chooses.
My view on apostles is very simple. As long as the true Church of Christ exists on this Earth, there will be apostles called by Christ. The question is, does the Church of Christ exist today? Personally, I don't believe the the Church of Christ exists today, unfortunately. It seems that Christ established His church with the intent that the keys to the kingdom be passed down from the apostles but due to the unrighteousness of man, the church was lost. MST, I do agree with you on most points that any gifts that were given in biblical times can be given today. I also believe God can do as he wills and can call prophets in this day, as he did in the past. The scriptures quoted by Vektek state that in the Old testament God called prophets, but in the New Testament, He didn't call prophets because His Son was with us, but it says nothing about today. Does God call prophets today? Unlike others, I don't claim to have the answer to this question, and I certainly don't think the Bible teaches that God will never call another prophet. On the other hand, I have never met someone or heard someone teach that I feel is an actual prophet of God. So I don't know if there are any prophets on the Earth today. As far as apostles though, it seems a little sketchy to me that people are claiming to be actual apostles of Christ, without claiming that Christ has actually restored the Church. The quote you posted by C. Peter Wagner shows that certainly, the New Apostolic Reformation has nothing to do with the actual Church of Christ since it is just a name given to a movement that was naturally growing among people. Yet within this movement, people are claiming to be ordained of Christ as apostles and are ordaining others as apostles. I do have a big problem with this, as apostles should only be ordained and called within the actual Church of Christ where the keys of the kingdom are being passed to the appointed. Now you will tell me that Christ can call any apostle that he chooses at any time, just as he called the apostle Paul, yes I agree with this 100% percent, but at the time that Christ appeared to the apostle Paul, Christ's Church was still fully established on the Earth. If Christ appeared to people today and ordained them as apostles, then that means he is also re-establishing His Church on the Earth. But there is no church connected with the NAR, just random apostles being ordained; I have a big problem with this and it seems completely incorrect.
I wish that all the people who post on the Christianity Debate forum were a little more open minded so that we all could learn from each other. It seems that most people who post on this forum are very set in their beliefs and are not even open to the possibility that something that they believe could be wrong. God cannot teach anyone that has already closed their mind to the possibility of something else. It is the same with atheists, they have closed their mind to the possibility that God exists. Some of you here that debate with MST have closed your mind to the possibility that God can call prophets today or heal the sick today, so of course you will never believe anything otherwise. MST, I still need to have more experience with the NAR, but maybe you should also be open to the possibility that there is a problem with people claiming to be called as apostles without the Church of Christ being present. That is not to say that I don't think you are a true believer of Christ and you do his will on the Earth, everything that you say tells me that you are exactly that, as well as I'm sure many other people that are connected with the NAR, but that still doesn't mean that entire movement is correct and that the 'apostles' in that movement are actually ordained of God.
