Thanks for the info and suggestions.

I'm still having trouble getting anything started without putting the bars close together.

With finesse I've manipulated the wires and clips so that my bullion bars are fairly parallel and at the same height.

After 70 min of being roughly 1.5 inches apart nothing had started to happen, so I moved them about an inch apart and 10 minutes later still nothing has started.
