Illness, drugs, stress, cosmetics, lifestyle, etc.

There are plenty of alternative health web sites that discuss the causes. There doesn't appear to be any formal research that gives supports. Although, I am starting to read that many of the effects of ageing are being attributed to toxicity and this ultimately will involve liver function.

Sorry for such a glib answer.
