It depends on the doctor. My doctor and family practice is not allowed to treat me period. The steps for me to be treated would be to have a + stool test. Then they would refer me to infectious disease for treatment. ID will not accept anyone unless they have a + test. Showing samples and photos to my doctor was enough for her to worry and not want to screw around with stool tests. The best she could do is refer me to GI. They might have more wiggle room.. I have no idea what to expect and I go on Monday.
Doctor reactions are all over the place... but you should definitely show any evidence you have and take it from there. If you worry about the long term, you will make yourself crazy. Get in and show them what you and ask for a referral to neurology and gi.
