Achlorydia (low to no stomach acid) can be caused by h. pylori, so taking baking soda doesn't seem to make any sense, as stomach acid is often already low, especially in those who take antacids, yet still have pseudo "acid reflux".

Quoting Yasko:

"When the pH climbs like you are seeing, I believe that represents H.pylori that has come out of hiding, out of the mucosal cells and is making urease to neutralize the stomach acid so that it can live there."

If one uses bicarbonate, wouldn't that lower the PH, and again why would the HP need to neutralize any 'acid', if the acid has been neutralized by the baking soda?
