I've also heard it's true in opposite direction: you need Iodine to utilize iron. So probably it's a good idea to take them both at the same time. Also I've seen a report on this forum from anemic person who have been taking iron - and it was helping only for short time; and only after starting Iodine anemia was cured completely.
