Long story short - we are a family of 6 - 4 kids ages 17, 16, 8 and 5. The 8 yr old has been having some funky green poo for a couple weeks and recently started getting tummy aches and throwing up, so we went to the ER and they requested a stool sample, in which I found 3 wiggling worms! The ER doc said he was a worm expert in the military and said they looked like pin worms and prescribed Albenza 400mg now and another dose in 2 weeks. He wrote prescriptions for all of us even though no one else is showing no symptoms... And he said he could really get in trouble for writing them for everyone. It has been 4 days since our first dose and since then i have been inspecting everyone's poo, but its so hard to tell what is normal and what isnt. I thought I saw something that resembled a pin worm in mine on day 2 but I can't be sure. I thought I saw the same in the 5 year olds too. I'm an absolute mess over this. I have steam mopped and cloroxed everything, shocked the pool, washed towels and bedding every day... Obsessive hand washing.. Feeding the kids pumpkin seeds, tumeric powder, diamataceous earth powder in drinks... You name it. What makes it so difficult is that the 2 teenagers just dont care. Odds are that it was THEM who brought it home because the 2 younger ones don't leave the house much and the teens are always sleeping over at friends houses. I know i cant keep them locked up forever, but *if* it was them who got it from sleepkng out, theyre just gonna keep bringing it right back and infecting everyone all over again. Its insane and they just dont care. The day we took our first dose i told them be prepared to stay quarantined in the house for a bit and every day since then they've pested to go hang out with friends and to sleep over... Even to go swimming in a public pool!! I'm like, are you KIDDING me??? You'd risk infecting all those little kids just because you're ignorant and selfish. Im seriously ready to snap here.. i just want to cry. No matter what i do, nobody is cooperating with me... Last night after i got done steam mopping the bathroom carpets, getting ready to shower the younger 2, they took their undies off and let them hit the floor. I was like, omg we will never get rid of this if people dont start cooperating. This is ridiculous and besides people accidentally spreading it because they don't know they have it... The reason pinworms are so common and out of control is because of ignorant, selfish people like my older 2 who just dont care.
Im sooo ready to just give up.... But *I* am NOT ok with worms living in my colon and laying eggs that get all over the place. Its jyst unfair that I am the only one who cares.

Edited to add an update: i have been going hardcore on diatomaceous earth and laxative tea.. Trying to liquify my insides because i don't have bowel movements often because my medication constipates me... So i just went a few minutes ago and i most definitely saw a pinworm in the toilet :( :( :( there was no mistaking it. I've also noticed the last few days that there was also theae browniah redish looking floaters too that kind of resembled mini earth worms. At first I thought it was undigested food.. But the last time I went to the bathroom, everything was pretty much liquid, so now that has me extremely freaked out. I just want to put myself in a bubble... Theres no way im going to get the other 5 people in this house to take all the precautions and cleanse like i have been doing. I dont feel comfortable making children drink tea til the point of liquid poo or stuffing a pinch of DE in their buttholes at bed time. I feel like i would be violating them. Their dad and the oldest 2 are in denial and i had to have a melt down and scream yesterday just to get them to drink a spoonful of DE in their drinks. They refuse to warn friends theyve slept over with so reinfection is almost certain.
Sorry for the rant... I'm totally losing my mind over this. My old lady neighbor just gave me a Klonapin for my nerves
