I just had to share this here because I know what a misery this is to live with.
For me it started when I was 14 years old. I was a nervous kid and would pick, bite my lips throughout those years. Around that time the problems began.
I'm now 28 and two weeks ago I decided I finally had enough after years of having to check my lips in the mirror every half an hour, or before going out, or worrying about them exfoliating themselves during the day and me having to wipe off all the loose skin.. anyway..
A few years prior to this I noticed that after brushing my teeth my mouth became inflamed around the lip linings (not sore or painful) just appeared to be irritated somewhat. The following day the lips would go through there process of peeling and this went on every day. I was using retardex toothpaste (here in the UK).
So I switched to using something called Aloedent Triple action... the problem became better as I noticed my lips were less irritated during the day, and the peeling cycle was slightly less severe. I continued with this toothpaste for a few years, but the problems persisted.
So two weeks ago, I decided to stop using toothpaste all together, complete STOP. Including mouthwash. Now most people will say, well it's not healthy to use no toothpaste, and my teeth will decay quickly... well I guess that's true if you eat sugary foods, but I eat little to no Sugar most days, and I do perfectly fine from the brushing action of the electric toothbrush alone. I think there's a Conspiracy that flurode in tooth paste helps fight tooth decay, and actually it doesn't provide much protection, if at all. The government just want us to spend money and consume things that are no good for use, and in some cases could make us ill. But I suppose if you love sweet foods, it's important to find an alternative to toothpaste... Read on ..
So.. since eliminating all toothpaste 2 weeks ago my lips have heeled. I've noticed this strange sensation in my nasal passages, as though they are finally starting to breath for the first time in years, it's so weird I can't explain in words. It feels as though something has become unblocked and is now flowing, I'm full of life, I believe the ingredients in the toothpaste was actually poisoning me as well as causing me exfoliative chelitits. MY energy levels are through the roof.
I'm noticing a nice smooth redness alone the inner lip line, the last remaining areas of skin on the front lip are becoming smoother, and the peeling has stopped.
I just want anyone reading this to at least try what I have done for two weeks, and see if it helps your lips. Avoid all toothpaste and mouthwash, just brush with the brush alone, and see if there is a difference... I have a feeling a lot of us are suffering from allergic reactions to these nasty chemicals they put in toothpastes.
Now my lips are healed, I'm looking for a permanent alternative to toothpaste. Sea Salt is a popular one, but I will post back here if anyone wants me to once I've done my research and have tried some alternatives. At the moment I am using nothing and it feels fantastic. I feel fantastic. I'm not using any products on my lips either, no balms or oils or creams or rubbish that you have to spend your hard earned money on.
One other thing is this latest toothpaste, the aloedent, is said to NOT contain fluoride and is SLS free. Clearly then there are more ingredients that are causing the irritation besides these two.
The list of ingredients as follows :
glycerin,
sorbitol
hydrated silica,
aloe barbadensis,
aqua,
xylitol,
sodium lauroyl sarcosinate,
mentha piperita oil,
carboxymethyl chitosan,
escin,
hydrooxyethylcellulose, menthol,
sodium hydroxymethylglycynate
ubiquinone co-q10
melaleuca
alternigfolia oil
citric acid
ci 75810
NOT ALL SPELT CORRECTLY
If your toothpaste contained any of these above, chances are your lips are peeling because of contact with them. And its pointless to try eliminating to find out which of these nasties is causing the inflammation and peeling because they are probably found in all the toothpastes on the market (even the ones branded as natural alternatives like this one)
I just can't express enough how happy I am to have finally cured this, I really can't put into words, and I just want anyone else suffering to try doing what I did. Avoid using any products whatsoever on your mouth for two weeks and see if you notice a difference..
Just another thing to mention I'm also switching to a truly natural and organic hair shampoo like coconut oil, with no nasty man made chemicals in there.
Any questions please ask. I'm willing to help as much as I can. I can't believe I've finally gotten rid of this. No peeling, no exfoliation for over a week since stopping, the look and feel of the lips has never been like this so I know it's permanent.
Thanks for reading please direct me any questions.
