I read in my Adelle Davis health book that a low protein, high carb diet is associated with insufficient stomach acid production. I do believe the info on Iodine, but maybe Iodine supp. is not enough; sufficient protein matters, too. This does not mean you have to consume only protein as in the Atkins diet, only to make sure you are not existing on carbs day in and day out!
