99.99% silver being used for anodes is just fine, your are not supporting any weight with them. You are just using the wire or coin(silver maple leaf) as an electrode. Plus if you want to- you can hammer the silver and harden it--Silver wire is hardened by hammering with a plastic or rawhide hammer.
