Cortisol is the LAST hormone to fall as adrenal fatigue gets worse and worse.   

It is the General Custer of adrenal hormones.

The other thing that happens is people often have high cortisol in the morning (and night), but have low cortisol in the afternoon ..... hence the afternoon energy crash
