I checked my thyroid status back then (1 year ago) and everything looked fine (TSH, FT4, FT3) but my antibodies were slightly elevated (they are okay now). I know that elevated thyroid antibodies could mean Hashimotos. And with Hashimoto’s one can have elevated thyroid hormones causing increased pulse for a few weeks followed by low thyroid hormones for the next few weeks. But at the time when I was experiencing extreme heart palpitations my hormone levels were absolutely normal.
At the time when I started taking Lugol’s I had been taking selenium and vitamin B complex. I was also sporadically taking Alpha Lipoic acid, Milk thistle, Choline, DIM, Astaxanthin.
Taking Lugol’s hit me like a ton of bricks. I had never experienced anything like it. It was absolutely awful. I thought I was going to die.
You are right about adrenals. There is probably a connection. Back then I checked my cortisol and it was fine but it was a blood test conducted in the morning.
A few weeks ago I did saliva cortisol test. My cortisol was overly high in the morning (probably because I had to get up early that day) and then too low for the rest of the day.
What do you recommend to take for adrenals? I started taking vitamin C (2000 mg), vitamin B5 (500mg), Ashwaganda (500mg), Bacopa monniera (650 mg), Zink Carnosine. I tried taking other adaptogens like Rhodiola and Siberian ginseng but they make my palpitations worse. Recently I started eating Himalayan salt. I put a few crystals under my tongue and let them dissolve . I’ve been doing it for a few weeks now. So far- no noticeable effect.
I also tried supplementing with iron which resulted in my ferritin levels going high so I stopped.
