DE aggravated my gut more than it helped with candida. I noticed DE to cause more mucus production in the gut. This was evident during my colonic sessions. The silica diatoms can aggravate the gut lining for people that are more sensitive. In some cases people can confuse herxing/detoxing with aggravations.
