I might try quitting iodine, then eat a shittload of cruciferous vegetables for about a week, wait a day, drink lots of pure water, then go back on iodine.

Cycle the body between an Iodine deficient condition, and an iodine-rich condition, like what a toilet plunger does to a drain. Get the clogs out
