yeah, closets everywhere have a Clark Zapper in them collecting dust.
Here's what is off the mark from Beck: In his later years he admitted that it takes 3 milliamps of electrical current to get enough current in the arteries when both electrodes are placed on one wrist (which is 3 times more than what most people can tolerate) but then he recommended people to use the machines he endorsed which were to have both electrodes on one wrist. So one of these scenarios were taking place:
1) the feds leaned hard on him to the point he had to mislead the public
2) he was just getting a bit senile
3) his friends manufacturing the devices had invested a lot of money in that erroneous design and he didn't want them to lose out
