where on earth did you read ascorbic acid wont cure scurvy?

The clogging or arteries is a response to arterial damage. When vit C is not present in ample amounts to properly rebuild damaged collagen the body uses cholesterol as a make shift patch in arterial walls.

The breakdown of collagen is in essence low grade scurvy and is addressed quite well by ascorbic acid.

Do some googling on "Pauling therapy" as well as various first hand reports of success from using it.
