Hi Star,
Since H. Pylori is a bacterial infection, the below quotes from three different doctors may be of interest and/or use to you:
Dr. Thomas Levy, M.D. wrote the following:
"High dose vitamin C has been proven to be a successful treatment -- and in many cases a complete cure -- for most viral and many bacterial infections.
"Vitamin C can also prevent and cure non-viral infections....bacterial, parasitic, and other non-viral infections...
"Vitamin C is an absolute virucide. It is often bacteriocidal; almost always bacteriostatic; and always strongly supportive of an optimally competent immune system.
"...vitamin C appears to be the ideal agent for helping in the destruction of most bacteria, fungi, and other microbial agents that continue to afflict mankind.
"...there are mechanisms whereby ascorbate acts against pathogens, especially viruses and bacteria..."
And Dr. Robert Cathcart, M.D., wrote:
"...bacteria do very poorly in the face of massive doses of ascorbate, even where antibiotics were not used."
And Dr. Frederick Klenner, M.D., wrote:
"If enough Vitamin C is supplied, the enzyme system that breaks down invading viruses and bacteria, will be able to do its job properly.
"The liver has a better chance of detoxifying the blood stream of poisons, toxins, viruses and bacteria if the plasma is saturated with Vitamin C. Fever, toxins and bacteria reduce the level of C. Therefore...if a high level of C is maintained, all tissues return to normal despite the fever and the bacteria; and because of its action as a respiratory catalyst, it enables the body to build up adequate resistance to the invader.
"Vitamin C would be thus retained in the tissues helping to guard against the viruses and bacteria.
"Vitamin C will discourage these bacteria...
"White cells ingest bacteria and in the process produce hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide will combine with ascorbic acid to produce a substance which is lethal to bacteria."
You may be interested, Star, in reading [at least the first ten paragraphs of] this article by Dr. Cathcart http://vitamincfoundation.org/www.orthomed.com/titrate.htm dealing [in part] with how to dose properly.
If you decide to try this modality, Star, I would like to give you this one cautionary comment: If you review the material, be sure you get this point: Dosage is the key! As an example, if a doctor prescribed a dose of antibiotic to a patient, it would come with both an amount and frequency of dosage. Hypothetically, if that patient decided to cut that prescribed antibiotic dosage in half, and/or ingest it at one-half the prescribed frequency, and then did not get the results expected, could we really/honestly say that they tried the antibiotic out, and it did not work? And so it is with ascorbic acid. Dr. Cathcart wrote that he did not see significant results in his patients until they approached Bowel Tolerance: "The clinical symptoms of...diseases and other conditions...are markedly ameliorated only as Bowel Tolerance dose levels (the amount that almost, but not quite, causes diarrhea) are approached."
And similarly, note this from Dr. Levy, "The three most important considerations in effective vitamin C therapy are "Dose, Dose, and Dose." If you don't take enough, you won't get the desired effects. Period!...you will rarely ever fail to observe a dramatic response...if you take a large enough dose for a long enough time."
I wish you [and your son] the best of success, Star, in resolving his health issue(s)!
Sincerely,
David
