Cure claims, especially on the internet, especially on forums and Youtube, are from my point of view to be taken with (extreme) caution, even if there are a bunch of them. You can read all kinds of stuff on the internet (alien abductions,
And I wasn't really talking about diets, I was more talking about things like liver flushes, "toxic cleanses" and other stuff like that, where there seems to be little to no scientific evidence backing them up.
If one has a sensitivity to certain kinds of foods, sure, one definitly should try certain diets, maybe paleo or some other form of diet. I didn't say food sensitivities aren't real. I am even thinking about trying paloe for myself whenever I feel like I can manage to do it for a reasonable amount of time. I wouldn't put diets that avoid foods that trigger ones sensitivities into the "alternative medicine" category.
I am somewhat annoyed of people who try to bad-mouth real medicine (in general). Medicine that actually works. Medicine that is backed up by scientific evidence. And I'm annoyed of people that insist on telling people how they got their condition. There have been quite a few people on here and the Facebook EC group that are quite certain that their EC was triggered by extensive periods of time where they bit or otherwise hurt their lips. Someone on here then insisting that, 'no, it's all coming from the inside', that they didn't treat their body well before, and that they should now do Liver Flushes and heal their gut and all is going to be fine and that this is the only way, is, again, from my point of view, wrong. I for one was perfectly healthy when my EC started, I was always eating mostly very healthy, excercising regularly, no smoking, almost no alcohol etc. I was taking good care of my body. Still EC came out of the blue.
Sure, there might be the possibility that EC in some cases is caused by some internal problem, that's not my point, but I have yet to see any evidence that it's the only cause. In fact, there has been evidence against that statement. There have been people that got cured without doing any diets, Liver Flushes etc.; they were using topical creams, or doing moist healing (again using topical creams) or leaving their lips alone.
And about eczema only being caused by internal problems: I wonder, when two parents have eczema, and their child then has an 80% chance of also getting eczema (which seems to be the case), I wonder if those children are born with a leaky gut? :)
Sorry for all of that rambling drivel :-D
