I used to be very active on this site when I found it in 2009. I've had the IUD out for about 4 1/2 years and am doing much better. In a nutshell, back in 2009, the Drs. thought I had MS or lupus. I was very close to dying, I felt. I don't post here as much because I'm just so busy with life again and am feeling better - 75%-90% better most days. I still have some lingering symptoms that come back, especially during cycles and ovulation, and some days/months are better than others. I don't know if I'll ever get fully back to normal, but I'm am functioning okay.

So! I had the exact type of pain you describe but on the RIGHT side instead. I also was analyzed for kidney issues, but nothing ever came up. When I was earlier in my recovery, I had it sometimes for weeks. I noticed it would bother me off and on for a few months, and then sometimes disappear for a few months. My latest bout of it was earlier this year. It lasted for a month or so and then stopped, but this was the first time I'd had in over a year, so I was surprised (nothing should surprise me with the Mirena, but I really thought I was done with that kidney pain).

In general, all of my symptoms are better, but a few of them do still come and go.
