you do know that the body can take elemental Iodine from KI, right?

here is the deal with lugols. the way it is reckoned is by the total Iodine only content. so in 100ml of Lugols 5% with 10grams of KI and 5 grams of I2 in it, this is not 15 grams of iodine. 1/4 of the KI molecule is potassium. so its 7.5 grams of iodine from Iodide and 5 grams of elemental for a total of 12.5 grams of total iodine.

the 6.25 mg of iodine in a drop of 5% Lugols is 3.75mg of iodine from Iodide and 2,5mg of elemental. or, another way, 5mg of Iodide and 2.5mg of iodine.

from this one can see where the numbers 7.5% and 15% for Lugols comes from but are probably not accurate or standard in their presentation. those numbers lead me to believe they are on purpose to deceive in some way. certainly not as an attempt to provide usable information about their product.
