Yes, it could be adrenal fatigue. Some people with high cortisol gain weight around the middle, including a friend who had a long history of having a great figure.

I suppose you "crash" late in the afternoon or evening.

I suggest that you work on the anxiety symptoms asap! I would not be afraid to take some meds but there are supplements that can be helpful too--Magnesium, GABA maybe B6, Glutamine. You might not need as much medication with a nice combo of supplements and the right diet & lifestyle

Lots of people in heavy metal detox groups have your symptoms and more. If you don't consider HMs at this point and you develop more food and chemical sensitivities or tingly extremities, you really should look into HMs. You could check out the symptom lists under the 800+ hair tests at this site used by members of HM detox groups
