Speaking of differences in culture! I notice none of the remedies here mention ozonated olive oil, as an athlete's foot treatment.
As a kid, after entering Jr. HS and above, our father gave us each a small jar of "ozonado" to put in our lockers. After showering, we'd dry off, smear some between our toes, put on our socks and go about our business. Other kids would use powders, or nothing at all.
As children, what our various families gave us to use for our personal care, was a private thing and we saw nothing "different" about the choices, anymore than we'd think oddly of our lunches contents being different. It was all part of the experience of "going to school."
I just wanted to say that it worked fairly well. I've never had a case of the fungus, except in college, when I once ran out. After receiving some from home, it went away immediately, for it's used on a daily basis when I'm away from home's showering facilities.
I mentioned this to a fellow office worker, after reading your message and as an adult, he found it strange I'd use an "oily" substance for athletes foot. His emphasis was on "dry," which I found impractical in light of normal perspiration.
But, to each his own!
