AVC doesn't turn Iodine into iodide, like ascorbic acid FWIW/no color change, I don't know about absorbtion effects...

You can take Lugols on an empty stomach, not only to make sure it isn't turned to Iodide but also to let it absorb into the stomach tissue, from which it can work like a time-release supplement.
