At almost 2 years into Iodine supplementation, I've learned that if I dip below 300mg of 5% Lugols (which is 132mg elemental), my alcohol cravings come back with a vengeance.

I've dabbled into the 1-5 grams SSKI daily for several months, this was the only form I was taking, and that's when the cravings started to return. I added a dropper full of Lugols with it, but to no avail. While I felt great with good energy, the cravings really bothered me. I would cave and binge constantly.

Could there really be a biological need for that much elemental iodine? That sure is a lot of brown water to be drinking everyday! I'm not sure the long term consequences of ingesting that much elemental iodine, but it surely has to be better than binge drinking nearly every night and chronic dehydration it brings.
