So in view of this report, the $64,000 question is this:

It is said by multiple reliable sources that the majority of hypothyroid people have Hashimotos. Then why aren't we being inundated with MANY more cases of Hashi?

I suspect that the answer is that we (and Dr. Brownstein) have trained everyone to take 200mcg of selenium with their iodine. Apparently this dose of selenium is enough to correct hashi while the Iodine intake feeds the thyroid. This then explains why TSH goes up for a while when first starting iodine.

Any comments or theories? The results of this thread are going into my on-line docs we use for iodine, so I am looking for the best feedback,
