I think all pharma meds can have a detrimental effect on the functioning of the body, i mean its a synthetised chemical being put into a place that dosent already hold that chemical. Im not anti pharma meds, but I have had a real rough time with pharma meds and to be honest, they actually made my AF worse than ever. Im currently a 14 months out of a cold turkey benzo withdrawal - the worst type of hell ever! so my AF will heal, but im still repairing from the short stint when I was given valium for sleep (three months turned into a 14 month trip to hell and back!), so dont ever do Valium! Nortiptyline is an anti-pyschotic right but with sedative properties? If it helps you sleep and works, great, sleep is the utmost of importance, but try to fix yourself up while using the meds and always do a slow withdrawal!
Probably what may be best is read some stories on this forum from peeps who have AF, Sherpa is a good example, and he is pretty much recovered now, we both have similar AF. Klaus also recovered, healthyartist...
they are definitely different AF and CFS, but in Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome the adrenals do get shot because of potentially fighting a virus etc but the Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome doctors now accept that Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome can be caused by chronic stress. CFS is more exhaustion, AF is more 'on fire, shattered but chronically unable to ever turn off or relax. AF is more when your body is 'LOCKED' in chronic stress mode - hypervigilience, anxiety, fatigue, mind that wont sit still, always feeling stressed, uable to relax, etc..this is how it starts then it leads into major metabolic meltdown.
Dr Lams site will help you see the differences...and Chronic Fatigue Unmasked from Dr Poesnicker also talks of the difference
