I have never heard of it, maybe Wombat can dig up some historic use this way. Painting the skin on lower abdomen sounds easier to administer.

But I recall some forum members that made vaginal supposories (?) with Iodine for it to be released close to the cervix. I believe they were made with with coconut oil.
