Hey gang,

A Quick update. Everything is worse than I had hoped. John's Oncologist told him he was in the less than 25% chance of survival category and promptly scheduled him for chemo and radiation, just like Parazapper said they would.

It was a horrible experience. If we had not asked questions, none would have been answered.

As I was driving home, absorbing what I had just witnessed, it dawned on me that this guy might not have even been a full blown doctor. He came across as more of a physicians asst. or an intern maybe.

He went down a short set of talking points and that was it. Once I started asking questions, he struggled mightily to answer them.

When I had finally had enough of the awkwardness in which he was responding to our questions, I politely asked him, "if this was your son, daughter or wife, would you be comfortable using the exact same treatment that you are scheduling for John". Without hesitation or even looking up from the paper he was writing something on, he said, "absolutely, it's pretty much standard procedure",only making eye contact at the very end of his answer. This guy was simply operating off of a mental script.

A few specifics that I found out are: A 4cm. supraglottic tumor, Stage 4A that has spread into the lymph nodes, T3N2C classification ?

John is scheduled to start Taxol and Cisplatin/Carboplatin, along with radiation treatments, on March 12th.

Is it unrealistic to possibly see a tiny bit of improvement in that short of a time frame if John goes into full detox mode immediately, and how might those improvements manifest themselves?

As long as things can at least hold steady with a hint of an uptick, his family is ready and willing to forgo the chemo and radiation treatment.

There is much more I want to share about Johns oncology visit, but I will have to save it for another time.

Right now I just want to focus on getting John's body detoxed as quickly as possible and I am going to have to choose a detoxification program for him tonight because he doesn't have internet access, so I need to start researching some of the links you guys were kind enough to share with me.

As always, any input and recommendations are greatly appreciated and I will provide updates as we go.

Thank You,
BuddyRo
