Iodine will detoxify the body and by doing so put a strain on the kidneys as well as on the liver. You need to make sure your detox pathways are open.

"I can't afford to detox the liver or I will taper too fast". Detoxing the liver removes the strain on the liver. Detoxing the liver means helping the liver to dump its toxins in the gallbladder and then help the gallbladder remove them into the colon. You then make sure that the colon is emptied regularly.
