Amy, not all crowns have Hg-amalgam under them. The senior members of the big Yahoo groups say there is no way to know without lifting them.

Those who have the $, get them checked. Others try some rounds to see if they get sfx.

I certainly don't envy those in that situation. I've learned to take redistribution of Hg to more vulnerable parts of the body very seriously.
