Hi, I know this is an older post but I am going through something similar but I'm not sure if it is TMAU. The situation you describe is exactly like mine. I am a student teacher at the moment in a high school and the kids are the only people who are honest about how I smell. I hear them whispering and saying I smell like ass, s***, bacon, etc. I find that deoderant makes my smell worse so I've been using a salt crystal which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I believe fragrance amplifies our smell somehow. I've also been using all natural goats milk soap scented with mint essential oils and rubbing pure coconut oil on my skin to create a type of barrier from the odor that is released from my pores. While this may be reducing it a little, it's not a fix. I believe I have candida (after years and years of digestion problems) and so am now on a candida diet which makes it nearly impossible for me to eat a choline free diet. After 4 weeks, I plan on introducing white rice and trying to go on the tmau diet. Urine smelling like burning rubber is what makes me feel that I have tmau. I can't smell my bo but I can smell my urine. I get this smell after eating high choline foods like asperagus, cabbage, fish, etc. Has your odor reduced with the diet?
