Yes, try the contents of aloe vera gelcaps. I know they are a bit hard to find in a gelcap form so, you may have to order them on-line. You can try iherb.com to see if you can find one there.

I do drink with a straw whenever I can, but I don't really do it as much because I truly believe that I am finally getting close to the end of my EC. I am still not 100% certain on that but, I just feel better about it.

I have tried to mention various barrier creams but, you always say that they cause more discomfort than anything else. I think you should get a culture done on your lips to see if there is a secondary bacterial infection present.

When I did my culture I even went to the doctor's office without brushing my teeth just to make sure that there was a greater chance that he would find something. To my surprise? The culture came out negative, believe it or not.

Have you tried oil pulling? I believe that Ayurvedic treatment really helped me out. I used to do oil pulling with sesame oil. Basically it involves you taking a tablespoon of sesame, sunflower, or coconut oil (whichever ONE you'd prefer and NOT all three) and putting it in your mouth and swishing it around for 20 minutes. The chemical makeup of the oil "pulls" bacteria towards it and turns the oil white. Then, you spit out the oil, you NEVER swallow it.

I have found sesame oil to be the best for me when doing this. Coconut oil is good too but, I just don't really feel the effects of it. However, the coconut oil does help to stimulate a steady flow of saliva.
