keeping the normal humidity level of your house (that is optimal humidity levels ranges from 40% to 60%)will keep you off from any allergies like severe coughing, if in case its too hot or too cold these colds and flu attacks and triggers, a humidifier would help just be sure to know the capacity of your unit, bigger rooms needs bigger humidifier, proper ventilation as well like opening windows or doors or whatever is appropriate.
