Hey I can sense the despair and I have had it too for years of insomnia on and off.

I donīt agree that we are dealing with unknowns. I mean if you really have adrenal fatigue, then that is an altered stress response, a dysregulated HPA axis. Some antidepressants, plenty of herbs and some nutrients do help with this.

Your insomnia and mine are very alike, you arenīt that rare. I just lie there and I can be very calm, but never drowsy.

I got a bit confused, how much time did the Kavinace work? Have it stopped to work now?

My advice? Want to know if you have "adrenal fatigue"? Get cortisol and DHEA in blood tested by allopaths (a GP, endo, your usual doctor). My serum cortisol is high, DHEA-S is low. I no longer feel that saliva testing for cortisol is a good diagnostic tool. When they draw my blood I get very anxious and my heart pounds, and this gets reflected in high cortisol. SO my adrenals CAN produce a lot of cortisol. My adrenal fatigue consists or has its roots in an altered stres response.

I do think my hormonal glands have got "fatigued" though, or something like that from the chronic stress derived from my social anxiety, self-abuse behaviour and a catalogue of traumas. But an altered stress response and sympathetic dominance are the roots for every problem in my case. Maybe because I got abused as a kid and also my father beated me up a couple of times, one I almost passed out. I have read studies proving that early life trauma causes permanent negative changes in the hippocampus, HPA axis and shit.

As long as insomnia goes, for me melatonin sublingual worked for two months and now I am going to try schizandra, milky oat seed, shatavari, ashwagandha and gotu kola. I think the key for some of us to cure insomnia is restoring the HPA axis and nervous system homeostasis:
