lets define Iodine deficiency.
the AMA/FDA et al say that the total body burden of idoine is somewhere in the 30-60mg range.

but actually, when the Iodine project actively worked to see what it took to get the body totally sufficient so it couldnt "hold" any more they found the body burden to be 1500mg. 20% of that is found in the skin alone.
so i automatically figure anyone not supplementing Iodine is deficient.
as for your question, there are a myriad of benefits to iodine supplementation, both great and small. the VWT forum is full of stories about them.
