I second that about the fruit. I have horrible nighttime hypoglycemic insomnia, and fruit just causes an awful rebound effect. Complex carbs with healthy nut butter or similar is the best. I usually eat steamed sweet potato slices with nut butter. Sounds weird, but at 3am, it's easy to chew and works fast.
