It's Gone!! (keeping my fingers crossed)
I have been using Rodan + Fields "Soothe" regimen for the past three months and not a single outbreak since - and it's now January! I stopped using it for 4 days over the holidays and I started to see flaking on my forehead. I got back on the plan and it is gone. The only other change I recently made is using a non-soap (Mary Kay for Men) shaving cream (which would not account for my clear forehead since I don't shave that) and using Nizoral shampoo instead of Tar shampoo.
My History
Diagnosed with Seborrheic Dermatitis about 15 years ago. It comes and goes but I usually have it embarrassingly bad at least a few days every month.
Like most, when I stay low carb (especially no wheat) it seemed to be better. But it was definitely getting worse! Bright red, then weeping sores forming crusts and endless flaking.
Recently
For my business, I joined BNI, a networking referral group. My condition was so severe that as I met with members of my group, nearly all of them tried to refer me to some sort of healer (Nutritionist, Naturopath, Dermatologist, Herbalist)- it was embarrassing. A few people mentioned the "Soothe Regimen" from Rodan + Fields but I dismissed it as nonsense because this seb derm stuff is incurable - right?
But these BNI folks really work hard to give referrals to their business associates and one said to me, "Look. Whatever you are doing isn't working, why not try the Rodan + Fields stuff? They offer a 60 money back guarantee."
So I did some additional internet research and found someone else who said it helped. So I figured why not?
The Product
The stuff is not cheap - $144! But it is for a three-month supply that seems to be lasting me five months. So about $30/month. It is a four step process that adds about 5 minutes to my morning.
You are supposed to do it morning and night but I seldom do the night treatment.
1st Step is a Face Wash (I use it in the shower)
2nd step is a Sensitive Skin Treatment
3rd step is a moisturizer
4th step is a Sunscreen (SPF 30) which I rarely use
I have waited three months to report the results and so far, no problems as long as I use the stuff. I'll report back if my luck runs out.
One downside is that Rodan + Fields is sold through an MLM scheme so you need to find a rep. I got it through Andrea Burnett who has been very helpful and we did it all on the phone.
