Thanks for the response. I don't eat tons of fruit, I eat it in moderation on a daily basis. All of my personal experience and training in natural medicine says that grains and fruits pacify the body and the mind. Every substance that you take into your body requires energy to break down and digest. As far as what I know about the physiology of digestion, sugars require much less energy overall to digest than protein (fat could require a bit less energy). I have never seen any information about the adrenal action required to digest carbohydrates compared to other foods, this is beyond the scope of what I have studied so far. At any rate, I very much disagree that fruits are the most stimulating food, and keep in mind I am not just talking about the immediate reaction of the body. Blood Sugar issues are a whole different discussion but again I don't think the solution for blood Sugar problems are just to eliminate carbohydrates.

I am not a fan of Dr. Wilson, but I do want to point out that Dr. Wilson also advocates eating good amounts of meat and avoiding fruit and he explains this is because fruit has too much yin energy (referring to yin as the feminine, pacifying, calming energy). He doesn't state it outright, but one could draw an inference that he IS recommending meat due to its yang energy (which would be the masculine, activating energy). All traditional medicines agree that grains and fruits are pacifying and meats (and most fats) are activating regardless of the biophysical processes and immediate effects you might feel (I'm not saying this makes it a fact, just saying that is what they teach).

I will definitely be looking into Dr. Lam's work and the work of others in the future just don't have time for it right now.
