Hello. I am 25 with a 6 year problem. A Fibroma which was removed on my chest surgically ended up becoming a keloid scar. I had undergone two more operations to remove the keloid... both ending up as failing. But the third surgery was better than the rest. I am going to do a brief history of my experience. Iodine use is a few paragraphs down.

I recommend if surgery is an option be prepared for a diet change and using a bioclusive patch over your wound for over 6 months. It kept my scar perfectly flat for about 3 months when the dr. discontinued use it raised and spread (more) becoming an average keloid again (about 1.25" x .75" Vertical x Horizontal)and red, lumpy. But i highly recommend the bioclusive (easy, works well, cheap) and changing your diet to a raw food one. Cleanse before.

I have undergone a juice fast for just under five days and i noticed my scar was flattening and looking more white. Then when i resumed eating (breaking into eating slowly over 3 more days) it sort of just resorted to how it was. But curious, i wonder if i continued or was on a raw food diet my body may work on healing it. I have heard it returns to injuries it may postpone due to lack of resources in the body being eaten up by digestion. But i can tell you my red cheeks were less red and i never felt better than i day 4 and 5. I highly recommend a juice fast. And i was a skeptic... Very spiritual and awesome experience and strengthened my will. Oh, and it practically cured my acid reflux and gastro issues. I still have a ways to go, but damn i can eat food without wanting to die now... but anywho. Iodine!

So, the thing that intrigues me the most for reducing scars is iodine. While my results are nothing great so far. Minimal improvement if anything. The results i am seeing are the same as what Dr. David Derry saw. Look up Iodine Scar Regeneration and it will bring to his research on regeneration.

As i apply Iodine (ill explain below how) the scar reacts differently than surrounding skin. It absorbs and sheds over the course of about 3-5 days or over a week depending on application. More hairs are growing around my scar and appear to move and touch different parts of the scar. THe coordinating hairs and their positions are good signs. It hurts at times and itches but worth it if the results are good.

I think best products are Extra-Virgin Coconut Oil, Lugols 5% or Nascent Iodine, and Copper Peptides (still unsure of these though).

So Protocol:
Since my scar is on my chest and i want to completely saturate it I lay down and use Aquaphor petroleum jelly and surround my scar and make a big wall so i may form a pool for it to soak in and also protect the surrounding skin. Leave on for 5-15 min whatever you can stand and do 2-3 times a day. Have a shitty rag to wipe it up. It will wash out though so dont worry.

Now i am not sure if you leave the skin on or not that is shedding. So, i am experimenting as should you. But, I am seeing the results Dr. Derry saw so i feel good about it. If anything it sheds and leaves lighter pink skin and exfoliates. No big deal. I think its a very slow process so i will continue and update.
