Chris,
you keep repeating this old Shelton quote that "digestive energy is diverted to cleansing and healing". This reasonably sounding speculation merely reflects the lack of actual knowledge of what may be going on in the body during a fast.
Since this is Shelton thread and we're wrapping up our discussion, I'd like to reiterate that Shelton had not fasted a day in his life and thus lacked insight a personal experience can give. Such an experience could have compensated for his lack of knowledge -- and he knew nothing about metabolism. He based all his recommendations on what sounded right to his limited understanding.
And regarding the number of fasts Shelton supposedly supervised, I believe the true number is 3,000. That gives 1.8 fasters per day EVERY SINGLE DAY for 45 years of practice. This should have a reasonable distribution in reality, ranging from 0 to a dozen+ of people to supervise daily in that timeframe. I believe that someone along the lines added an extra 0 to the number to make it sound more impressive.
In contrast, hundreds of Russian MDs -- not hygienists!-- have been administering and studying fasting therapy for the last 50 years. And unlike Shelton, they indeed fasted tens of thousands of people -- must be hundred+ thousand by now. Their recommendations are contrary to what you and other Sheltonites :) on this forum espouse.
It's time to turn the tide here toward Science supported by empirical experience of those who actually fast -- from those who are engaged in mere speculations.
By giving out free advice here you positioned yourself as a fasting expert, even though all you did were 2 fasts almost 40 years ago -- and none since! You memorized Shelton & Co, but have you considered that the contradictory to the current state of knowledge recommendations you give out to those who actually fast can be harmful? How would you know, if you don't practice what you preach.
