Being a 100 year old quote does not necessarily mean that it is wrong or incorrect.
I did not say that a healthy person starves and a sick one fasts when they abstain from nourishment, this was Bernarr Macfadden, but what he alluded to was the perceived need to fast in the first place, which Hygienists believe is only necessary as an internal housecleaning measure once a year for 10 days or so, or unless at times of illness/sickness when the body will generally suspend the appetite to divert digestive energy into the cleansing and healing process.
I am not headstrong FastinGuru, and open to all ideas and opinions, but my own opinion on fasting is borne out of personal experience, and that of many others over the last 150 years or so, including those fasting supervisors who have gone before us and contemporary supervisors such as Dr Joel Fuhrman MD.
