Chris,

the above springer PDF link does not work.

The quotes you give for supposed MDs sound very dubious. Na+ and Cl- are our main electrolytes and they are NOT organic. And I already mentioned the _fact_ that kidneys CANNOT spare Na+ beyond a certain gradient and some Na+ is always lost in urine. While it is true that on a no-salt diet Na comes from food, this does not apply to a fast, where Na+ is lost daily but none comes in. Again, the fact is that most people fasting on distilled water quickly develop electrolyte imbalance, the first symptom of which is aversion to water despite dehydration.

Your assertion that "scientific studies on human fasting were realized between 1870 and 1890 and mostly concerned "professional fasters" (reviewed in Benedict, 1911)" is laughable. What did they know about metabolism then? It was even before Krebs! They thought that ketones were toxins and that ketosis was a pathological state. Now we know that ketosis is what allows protein-sparing of which you talk somewhere else in this thread in a completely wrong context, which makes me suspect that you lack understanding.
