I have read this may be caused by low coristol (as cortisol acts as an anti-inflammatory... to keep you supple and running in potentially injurious situations).

The only time I got hives, personally, during my AFS journey was when trying prescription sleep meds when I was in bad shape. I suspect I had a mild allergic reaction that my body could not summon the chemicals to 'put down'.
