I prefer to follow the body`s symptoms, but agree that a starting point is good to have for the beginners.
So my suggestion 100 mcg selenium per 50 mg of iodine, might be a good one for the ones that actually take 50 mg +
For the ones that start low; like 1-2 mg of iodine, aka your suggestion of titrating slowly, this may be way to much selenium vs the iodine.
= possibly hairloss, throat pain. This is the only symptom I have seen of too much selenium; OR too much Iodine vs selenium.
Had both, easily adjusted by Iodine or selenium. Not easy if we say this or that is correct or not. If it was a one correct way of taking Iodine / selenium; we hardly would need this forum.
Per 100 different people at this board, 100 different diets, 100 different living surroundings, soils, etc. Then the difference in what we need in supplements would vary too.
