Hi All.

I've been suffering with this for almost 2 years now.

It was originally diagnosed as gallstones, as Gallstones were found in my gallbladder on my scans. However, the attacks continued to happen following the removal of my gallbladder in January of this year.

For the last year I've had suspicions that my attacks have not been related to eating patterns, but to stress levels.

Around January I stretched my mind back to the last couple of attacks and they both followed periods I was severely anxious for. Since then the correlation has only carried on. My boyfriend had his ex over for his birthday over the weekend (long back-story there) and I woke up in pain in the early hours of the Saturday morning.

The last time I had an attack was a couple of nights ago, after spending half or so before it in hysterical tears (this is by no means the first time that my attacks have followed hysterical tears).

I'm hoping that treating my anxiety will help to reduce my attacks and maybe get rid of them, but in the meantime I'm seeing if anyone is in a similar position, and putting the word out that I strongly believe that Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction can be caused by anxiety and that it is NOT a myth, contrary to many doctors' beliefs.
