The same principle applies to the scalp or anywhere else on the body for that matter. I've never heard of salt water turning hair white? So not sure about that one. The salt is cleaning and healing at the same time. It should be rinsed thoroughly from your skin after soaking in it. So not sure how that would turn your hair white??
