That may depend on one's definition of SIBO. As I understand it, it means an overgrowth of antibiotic-resistant microbes in the small intestine. Some sources state that it usually means a problem with the ileocecal valve. Others point to additional imbalances. SIBO would typically follow the use of antibiotics, so both the antibiotic-resistant strains and fungal candida would both be present. As commonly happens with antibiotic-resistant pathogens, they tend to work in ways that mutually support each others growth. Antibiotics would create both at the same time. Antibiotics would always create fungal candida, but may not create SIBO.
