i have removed one of the crust this morning because i felt it was going out when i brushed my teeth.

It was on my lip for 6 days and indeed there was a thin layer already forming underneath. So the area was less red than usual. but i still experienced some minor tingling during the day.

I will keep doing it on my lower lip and see if on the long-term if it improves.
